Veiny, Tender Breasts. Please HELP! - Women's Health Message Board

Hello,

I'm a 22 year old girl that has experienced some breast tenderness and have noticed a lot of dark blue veins all over my breasts and areolas.

I'm not pregnant, I just finished a period. I went off my birth control pills for a couple of months eariler and then went back on it. I was on Marvelon 28 since I was 16 then went off of it for approx. 3 months.

Since being on it for the last 4 months or so, I've had a couple heavy periods (which i never really had before) and almost a week before I got my most recent period, I had break through bleeding. Plus that period was very light at times.. during my period, I barely needed pads or tampons.

My body tempature is always high. I feel very hot all the time.. as if I'm getting extreme hot flashes.

I'm worried that the veins in my breasts won't go away because I'm not pregnant (most women have veiny breasts when pregnant) and I am really self conscience and umcomfortable.

WHAT DO I DO?? I'm so scared. Please give me any advice you can. Thank you sooooo much.

If you period was light then there is a chance that you are pregnant. Not to scare you or anything , but you might as well make an appointment with your Doctor just make sure.

Getting back on your bc could also be giving you pregnancy symtoms. BC tricks your body into thinking it's pregnant. So symtoms are not uncommon. Talk to your doctor about it. He/she may have a better bc for you.

I could almost bet your pregnant. Have you taken a pregnancy test yet? I had a friend in high school that bleed the whole time she was pregnant and did not figure out she was pregnant until she was like 6 months along and the baby started moving. Please take a pregnancy test and if comes out negative, than ask the doc to do a blood test to make sure you are not pregnant. Blue veins seem to come up on women somtime between 6 weeks and 3 months of pregnancy, and also your nipples will start changing.

as for the blue veins, they come and go with me as well. I will get them for awhile and then it goes away. I don't know why it does it.. it does it with my legs sometimes as well (my skin looks like tissue paper when it happens! Its like you can see all my major veins.. ugh!) So don't get convinced your pregnant. When was it you went off the pill for the 3 months? If it was recent then these symptoms may be from going off and on the pill.

I really appreciate it.

I took 2 at-home pregnancy tests and they both came up negative. Also I visited the Sexual Health Clinic in my town and talked to a nurse. I took another pregnancy test when I was there and it came up negative too.

So, I'm not pregnant.

The hot flashes have calmed down. And my breasts aren't as tender as they were. But the veins are still there.

The nurse wasn't much help and didn't answer any of my questions. A lower dose of estrogen birth control pill is an option for me to start taking after I'm done my current pack (Marvelon 28).

Do you think these symptoms could be related to the estrogen in the birth control pills? I was on Marvelon for many years, went off of it for a couple months and got back on it in April.

Should I just get off of birth control pills all together? Should I switch to a lower estrogen dose pill? Should I wait it out a couple more months and see if the veins disappear? I'm super self conscience about it. I love my breasts but the veins are doing awful things for my self esteem. If I stay on Marvelon for a couple more months will these veins become premenent?

I just hope my breasts don't always look veiny because they never did before.. it was like they appeared over night.

Anymore advice? I'd really love to hear your thoughts.
