Daughter's abnormal development spurt

Hello folks. My name is Karen, and I am the mother of three lovely daughters, who range in age from 18 to 23. All of them are very healthy and have no major problems of any kind. I'm of Asian descent, and my daughters take much more after me in appearance than they do my husband, who is Caucasian. He's a very big guy at 6'4" and 230 lbs, while all of us ladies are quite petite. We range in height from 5'1" to 5'3", and weigh in the 105-115 lb range. All of the girls look Asian in terms of facial features as well.

My two oldest daughters and myself are also smaller busted, as is typical with Asian women. We are all in the A-B cup range. However, there's something unusual going one with the youngest one. She too is petite like the rest of us, but is becoming quite buxom. The other strange thing is how late the growth spurt occurred. When she was 16 she was barely a B cup. In only two years she's grown 2 plus cup sizes, and is now a full D cup. However, in that same period of time, she has remained pretty much the same in terms of height and weight.

So, I guess I'm confused on several fronts. Isn't this a bit late for that type of dramatic growth? I thought girls were fully developed by 16. Also, since she takes after me in every other respect, what could be the genetic explanation for this?

In any case, this is not a terribly serious matter, just one of those puzzling things. She seems very comfortable with her body and is not self conscious. She takes some good natured teasing from her older sisters as well as myself, but that's probably because we're all a bit envious ;-) The one downside is that she is not going to participate on the gymnastics team this year, which she has enjoyed in the past. On the other hand, she's getting asked out more than ever before, LOL.

Karen

Re: Daughter's abnormal development spurt

You have to remember that your husband contributed genes to your daughters as well. They may look more like you but his genes from him and his family line are there as well. So these changes can come from his side. They might not be as dominant as yours, but I'm sure some have shown through.

Mostly girls are fully grown/developed at that age but sometimes the body decides to give it one last kick. I have had girlfriends that this has happened to when we were in highschool. It's weird to end school in the summer and come back next fall and .. holy cow, what a change. I am not sure if the girls' mothers ever took them to a doctor or anything, but if this is truly concerning you maybe you should and get a professional opinion.

Best wishes!

Re: Daughter's abnormal development spurt

I'm sure she got "them" from your husbands genes. And about the late growth spurt. I did pretty much the same thing. I was a small B cup if I was lucky. I was most likely a large A cup then what seemed like 1 day. My breasts just started to grow. I was 18! I went from that size to now Full D small DD. But I didn't grow in height at all. I guess it just takes some girls a little time to grow. I was preety late with getting my first period also. Almost 14 So I just figured I'm a late blummer. I wouldnt worry too much about it. Hope this helps. Luv Jess

Re: Daughter's abnormal development spurt

Ladies, thanks so much for responding! Well, I guess you can say she's got her mother's eyes and father's boobs, LOL! But seriously, it probably did come from his side of the family. I also feel a little better knowing that it's not such a freak thing for girls to develop that late. That let's me know it wasn't something in the water ;-)

For virtually my entire life, I have been surrounded by small busted women, both in my immediate and extended family. Now, this is not something I ever conciously realized, until now. So, it does take a little getting used to. I must say that I do get a little nervous when she wears tank tops and other form-fitting shirts, because I know it will attract lots of attention. But the reality is, she doesn't dress provacatively, she just wears what most girls and women do these days, and she shouldn't have to wear things that hide her body.

On the health side, she hasn't complained of back problems, so I don't think a breast reduction will be necessary. I wouldn't want to see her do that anyway, since she really does look fine. While, she is petite, she does have thick, muscular legs, so she's not terribly out of proportion. Also, because she's still a teen she's still quite slender, and is bound to put on a little weight as she gets older, so she'll probably look even better distributed. I wouldn't be surprised if she maxes out to a 34dd though, since she's close to that now.
