Using Monistat 7 and still itching

I've been using the Monistat 7 for 5 days now and the pain and the itch are gone, except the itch comes back when I insert another dose at nite. Am I getting better?

Hi Kelly,

I used Monistat 3 recently, and I remeber reading on the instructions that it may cause temporary itching when you insert the dose. As long as your improving everyday, I wouldn't worry about the nite time itch, you sound like your getting better - just finish it off and see how you feel.

Ok, I went back and re-read the instructions and your right, it does say that. Thanks for answering me!

Re: Using Monistat 7 and still itching

Kelly, sometimes a yeast infection can't be treated with the over-the-counter Monistat because it's not strong enough. It depends on what caused the infection. I know that for me, if I get one due to using antibiotics, then I can't use monistat because it does nothing. That's why I always ask my doc to prescribe Diflucan with the antibiotic to counter the infection before it starts.

If you find that after using the monistat for a week that it doesn't get better, call your doc and ask for Diflucan. It will clear it up a lot faster. It just depends on the particular infection, sometimes they are more persistant than others.
