HELP! worst pain ever! - Women's Health Message Board

I had a yeast infection about a month ago (the usual itching a little bit of pain) and it went away after like 1.5 - 2 weeks. I waited like 3 days before havin sex, and when I did, my vagina got extremely swollen and hurt so bad i couldnt even walk. (while having sex it didnt hurt at all, but the second it ended, i was in terrible pain). I went to the emergency room and the doctor told me that the yeast infection probably never fully cleared up, and now it is just really "angry". he gave me an antibiotic and said no sex for 2 weeks.

So the swelling was completely gone by the next morning and the pain was completely gone by the morning after that. But i waited the 2 weeks, and had sex again... again kinda swollen and a lot of pain (not nearly as bad as the first time... probably about half the pain.) so i just waited and it went away by the next morning. I waited another week and had sex again... same thing happened. 2 or 3 days after that I had sex again... same thing happened. The pain gets a little less every time and the swelling doesnt really happen anymore.

Is this really a yeast infecton? Could I have something more serious? Should go to another doctor? Please help! thanks

First off antibiotics PROMOTE yeast infections. You may have/had BV. I had it bad with horrible pain and swelling just like you after sex. The Dr. gave me metrogel to use which gave me a flaming yeast infection next so then I was back on meds for that. You might try some tea tree oil soap to wash with till it's all cleared up, it helps with both BV and yeast.

Your boyfriend may be passing the yeast back to you during sex, even if you use condoms, and even if he has no symptoms. He should ask HIS doctor about taking something just in case.

thank you for your post! i am going through the exact same thing right now, last month i had a yeast infection, this month i had another one, took the medicine from the doctor and then right after i had sex on monday i was so swollen and in so much pain after i sex thought something was wrong with me, i just left a message for my doctor to call me .

Really? It is good to hear that im not the only one. The pain and swelling were getting less and less with every time i had sex, so i thought it was clearing up itself. I just got off of my period, so i figured that after a week of not having sex it would be fine and the pain would be gone, but I had sex 2 days ago and the pain was almost as bad as the first time I had the swelling.

I would have gone to the doctor a few weeks ago, but I am in college and dont have a car. I am going home this weekend so I can go see my doctor though. Please let me know what your doctor said. I am curious to see if we had the same thing
