questions about reacuring bacteiral infections?

Hi,
When I was younger I had alot of yeast infections, some times because of other health issues that had me on alot of antibioticats. over a year and a half ago I started haveing symptoms that were a little different and very prosistant. my dr treated me regulary for yeast infections, some times 10 days of diflucan at a time. Finaly, after about six months, I went to the OBYN and they gave me somthing for a bactireal infection, my symptoms got slightly better but came back as soon as the meddication ended. finaly after a more than a year of discomfort and symptoms and several visets to the doctor I was given a medication that finaly cleared things up. now less that 6 months later I have the same thing again. the doctor told me that some people just have reacuring infections and wasnt really clear on how I might be able to take preventative messures. i was hoping someone might be able to give me some tips. I am getting tired of haveing cultures taken so often, once a year is more than enough for me, and it has been more like 4 this year. Also i read some where that this can be sexualy trasmited, should i worry abour the posabilety of haveing passed this on to my partner? or passing it on to him during a future reacurences? can men get this too? how might it afect them if they do?

depending on what it is you could be passing it back and forth but your doctor should have told you if that was a possibility. you should have him get checked out by his doctor anyway. also, you should take a probiotic to help re-balance your intestinal tract which may be causing an overgrowth of yeast. a good one i've used is florastor but there are a ton out there. you can probably go to the local vitamin/health food store and they could help you pick the right one.

Re: questions about reacuring bacteiral infections?

The key with taking acidophilus is to take it all the time about a half an hour before a meal. Especially since you had chronic yeast infections in the past. With taking acidophilus supplements you will help keep the good bacteria up and the chance of bad bacteria taking over low. You can also eat yogurt, as much as you can stand, but I mean at the least once a day. It wouldn't be a bad idea for your partner to be treated for the same thing as you. It would definitely cut down on the likelyhood of you passing it back and forth. Good luck with your problem. I know it can be frustrating.

Re: questions about reacuring bacteiral infections?

I'm 62 and have had itching and burning (I had a rash and swelling also)for a few days. I bought the 7 day cream and I take 2 benedryl at bedtime and sleep like a log.
Then in the morning the itching starts again! This has Never happened to me before. I had found Hyland's Insomnia to be out of this world to make me fall asleep months ago so I thought , I wonder if they have something for yeast?
So I bought Hyland's Vaginitis. In the morning I put 2 of them under my tongue (their tablets melt instantly) and in half an hour ALL ITCHING IS GONE.
Far as I know, even the homeopaths don't know how these homeopathic medicines work! I am Sold on Hyland's. Now I buy 3 bottles at a time. If I start itching in a few hours I take 2 more.
When you have a yeast infection you are not supposed to touch any sugar whatsoever but my will power isn't very good when it comes to an entire day without sugar.
