Nuva Ring and discharge - Women's Health Message Board

I've been on the Nuva Ring for two months now and it's great. I should mention that I am on it for control of my periods and not for contraceptive purposes. Anyway, since starting it I've noticed that I've had an increase of discharge that is white and no odor. I've had BV and yeast infections before so I know it's not that. I called my doctor's office and the nurse said this is normal because birth control changes the cervical discharge to prevent fertilization, but if it changes and there is an odor I should call them for an appointment. My question to you all is is there anyone out there using the Nuva Ring that have these symptoms? I know people react differently to different medications and not everyone has the same symptoms, if you will. I'm just trying to see if anyone else out there is experiencing the same thing. I have read a lot of replies on other message boards from women stating that the nuva ring is notorious for causing discharge. There isn't anything you can do about it, it's just an extremely common side effect from using the ring.

I was on it for a month but didn't like it so I went off. I had the discarge you are describing and looked into it as well. This is a common side effect of the Nuva Ring and nothing to be concerned about.

Thank you both for your replies. I didn't think it was anything to be concerned about because of the no odor. Other than the discharge I think it's great, basically because it's controlling my period. I bled so much in August I don't care if I ever have one again! LOL! I will though, but it won't be like it was a couple months ago.
