Menstrual Hip Pain

Just wondering if anyone else experiences hip (not pelvic but what actually feels like it's in the joints) pain right before or during their menstrual cycles. This usually happens to me the first day of my period and it's pretty intense one night then tends to go away. This month I also noticed that I had a really stiff lower back 5 days before my period, aggravated by a cleaning spree that had me bending and lifting. Cause for concern or normal?

Re: Menstrual Hip Pain

Hi

Yes I have this too, on my right side and my lower back feels really stiff. I would get it checked out if I was you, as I have jsut had a pelvic scan and I have a dialated falopian tube, probably caused by infection. I have also recently had very heavy periods, but these tough wood seem better now. However when I was int he docs complaining about the heavy periods and pain she just said this was normal and now it seems I may have had an infection and I really upset.

So go and get checked out and good luck

Re: Menstrual Hip Pain

My periods are actually pretty light...3 days of real bleeding, with only one of them producing significant amounts. In my younger days, when my periods were heavier, I would get bad cramps the first day, but that was more like ovarian pain radiating into my back. This hip pain has seemed to replace that crampy pain. I'm scheduled for a pap test in early January, so I suppose I'll mention this to my GP then. As my name screen name implies, I tend to catastrophize every symptom I feel. My latest obsession is ovarian cancer; hence my worrying over period aches and pains.
