skin in groin itching, dx with lichen sclerolis, can't take it anymore
I was diagnosed with Lichen Sclerosis in the groin area. My doc just did a visual diagnosis. I recently was diagnosed with Herpes simplex 1 in the same area. HPV is cleared up, but have an incredible amount of itching in the groin area similar to what I had experienced prior to the hpv diagnosis. Was prescribed Clob cream, but I wonder if there is something better out there to try. I can't take the itching anymore. Anyone have a experience anything like this?

Hi: I'm sorry you're suffering. There's lots of info online about Lichen Sclerosis/Planus. Have you tried sitting on an icepack to relieve the itching/swelling? Have you used the Clob? Lots of women swear by it. Sometimes I find that seeing a Dermatologist is better than seeing a Gyno. Hope you find some relief.

My Dr. believes I too have LS. She has ordered a biopsy which I will have done at the end of October. I am suffering terribly from this. I am using a clobetasol ointment, alternating with estrace cream. But there are still times when the itch over comes me and when I give in and scratch or pinch, then the burn sets in and the soreness. I have found that using a little vaseline at night does help as the nights seem to be the worse.
Sex is almost none existent now and I find that I am VERY depressed. I know this could be worse, it could be a death sentence but it feels like a "life sentence" and that there is no hope.

Don't despair. L.S. can be controlled with medication and can even go into remission. Give it time. Emu oil is very soothing and lots of women with L.S. use it along with the Estrace cream and Clob. You can find Emu oil online or in health food stores. Goood luck.
