This post is for my mum. She had a sterilisation 20 years ago after giving birth to me so she wouldn't have any more children. My mum is 61 years old. I was wondering if women who have had a sterilisation to stop you from conceving again could reply to this or women who know about it.

Well the problem is this. My mum has a very hard, swollen tummy and has done for a few years now. She does not have IBS or anything like that but she has got a history of having 2 benign tumors (polyps) removed from her Uterus and Womb. I am wondering if anyone else who has had the sterilisation also has a swollen tummy like my mums? Even when my mum loses weight (shes smack on normal weight for her) her tummy still sticks out. She honestly looks like she is 4 and a half months pregnant.

Nope, I don`t have that problem. It sounds like she should discuss this with her doctor.

Hiya Rosanne. Oh ok. I thought (well was hoping) it might be related to the sterilisation. Do you know of anything that can cause this? She is in very good health but does experience a lot of gas ( sounds like a quacking duck lol).

fibroid tumors can cause this. they are usually benign and shrink upon menopause. i have a couple. i have been sterilized but they are not caused by that. she should see her doc. God bless

My mums been on menopause now for well over 10years. She should be coming to the end of that soon. I think she might be because shes not having hot flushes as often as she used to. She did have 2 polyp tumors removed from her uterus and womb last year. Benign luckily. Will she need a scan to look for these fibroid tumors? Thank you x
