But ive been meaning to ask this question on here. My friend says she only goes to the bathroom (number 2) once or month and sometimes even longer than a month. She says even though she finds this odd too, she doesnt really worry about it or pay attention to it because shes use to it. Now i know i certaintly am not like this but wanted to know if anyone else was or if this is even normal? And can going to the bathroom less really be from eating less? Because she doesn't eat a TON but still eats normally. I dont know i just thought this was out of the ordinary..any insight?
That doesn't sound physically possible to me. IF this is true, your friend probably needs to see a doctor, because her body is not ridding itself of waste properly, and toxins can build up and cause major health issues.
I have a co-worker who goes about twice a month, and actually gets a lot of belly pain as a result. I told her to go to the doctor to rule out IBS, and she did, and that's what it was. Fiber therapy is what was recommended, and it has helped her a lot.
At one time I had this problem. I wouldn't go as long as a month maybe at the most 2 weeks till I learned that it's bad. I suppose I wasn't getting enough fiber. I started taking fiber pills and now I have a bowel movement about every 2 days. From what I've read that's not so good for a person either. Once a day is better. I know people that have a bowel movement after evey meal.
I feel better now that I go more frequently.
well i knew this sounded odd! My friend tells me this is completely true though and she feels no pain, nothing at all...just going to the bathroom less than most people do. i know going every day helps to get rid of toxins in there and i would think a month of some of that stuff sitting in there couldnt possibly be good. but do you really think its possible for someone to experience this and be completely healthy?
It sure doesn't seem healthy, even if she says she eats healthy and feels fine.. it can't be good, and is possibly doing damage that she just doesnt know about yet. She should ask her doctor about it. Maybe she's just embarrassed and is lying about not having pain or trouble??
I saw a nutritionist once and she says ideally you should go everyday, every 2 days at the very most. Anything more than that it means your diet isnt right, and your friends diet must really not be right to only go once a month. Damn, If I dont go everyday it makes me feel really terrible.
No, it is not healthy at all. If she eats at least 3 x a day then she needs to have a bowel movement more frequently than "monthly."
Check out the bowel disorders/problems board for helpful info.
Good luck.
There is NOTHING healthy about only have 2 BMs a month! The buildup of toxins in the body are probably out of control! She really needs to get to a doctor, perhaps a specialist who can really help her figure out what's wrong.
She's lucky she hasn't developed appendicitis or something at this point! Appendicitis can occur when there's a backup of waste in the body that hasn't been properly eliminated.
