I have been on the mini pill (Progesterone only) since May 06. Since taking it my periods have been irregular (as expected really) but usually frequent. Now I haven't had a period for two months which I find a bit worrying. Don't think I've missed any pills but slightly worried. guess I just need reassurance that this is normal...
Usually every woman skips a period every year or so. It shouldn't be a regular thing, but to skip one isn't the end of the world. It happens.
If you miss the next one, however, then I would talk to your dr. He may change up your script, or do something else with you. Missing one period isn't a big deal. But again, if you miss the second one...see your dr.
PLEASE do a pregnancy test. The mini-pill is a birth control method with a very high failure rate. My OB will not prescribe it to his regular patients; he will only prescribe it to women who are nursing and cannot take the extra estrogen. And even then, he doesn't like to because he thinks it's not very effective. He recommends the low-dose combination pill instead.
If it turns out you're not pregnant, I would strongly urge you to consider stopping the mini-pill and switching to a combination pill instead if you wish to avoid pregnancy in the future.
This is why I refused to take provera which is a different kind of progesterone only pill. The risks of getting pregnant are high. If you take the mini pill just a little bit late than the normal time you are suppose to take it then you are suppose to use a back up method. It's to much counting and calculating for me plus the constant thinking that I could get pregnant at any time.
