Usualy, during the first day of my period when I have cramps and bloating and back pain, and all that wonderful stuff (

), I also get these pains around my vagina and anus, usually only when standing and walking around- as if the muscles there are really tight and sore... this pain usually is gone by the second day of my period. Does anyone else get this? What is it from? This has been happening every time I get my period since I started getting my period 11 years ago, but for some reason, I'm just now starting to wonder if this even happens to anyone else...

Menstrual cramps are from contractions of your uterus forcing the blood out of your uterus. The lining of our uterus releases prostaglandins. This increases the contractions and can cause nausea and lightheadedness. Two weeks before your period you are ovulating and your body releases MORE prostaglandins during this time which is why a lot of us feel just plain crappy. Some women produce higher levels of prostaglandins which make cramps worse for them causing the pain can be accompanied by nausea or vomiting, diarrhoea, constipation or feeling faint plus headaches.

I bet your anus is hurting from the contraction. Ibuprofen, naproxen and mefenamic acid are best used to relieve pain and can also decrease the amount of bleeding. They work better if you take them from the time when either pain or bleeding starts or the day before a period is due. They help by decreasing the levels of prostaglandins. I've had my vagina hurt but I can not remember my anus every hurting. The part that is in between the anus and the vagina use to get sore.

I've had that same problem but the pain isn't around my anus, just the vagina. It usually happens when I'm sitting down. The pain is just awful. If I'm sitting down I can't move because the slightest movement will spark the pain. It has made me cry in the past but I'm just a crybaby anyhow.

It happens the day my period starts and goes away after a few hours, when bloodflow starts. I don't take anything for it but I'm sure something like naproxen would help.

Ibuprofen, naproxen relieve pain and can also decrease the amount of bleeding and the levels of prostaglandins . They work better when taken regularly. Take themeither when there pain or bleeding starts. Or start taking them the day before you're is due for your period
