hey everyone,
I stopped taking the pill about a month ago, and my last period was 2 weeks before that. Does anyone know whether stopping the pill may cause the next period to come late? My periods were incredibly heavy and painful on that pill, it was one of the reasons I stopped taking it. I felt like I was ovulating around 2 weeks ago, and didnt have sex around that time. My boyfriend and I had been using condoms, but now I've been back at Uni doing my exams for 2 1/2 weeks and havent seen him in that time.
I was thinking that maybe stress from the exams could have made me miss it, although I havent really been as stressed as other times when my period has come! Argh I really dont want to waste money on a pregnancy test (only a poor student) if I'm not! I have been feeling a bit sick now and then, but I think that may have been due to worrying about it! Does anyone have a similar experience?
xxxx
Re: stopped cerazette and now period is 2 weeks late!
When you stop taking the pill, your body goes through a number of changes. The pill was giving your body a ton of fake hormones, and now you don't have them. Everyone responds differently to stopping the pill. Some women don't even notice a change, their cycles stay exactly the same (lucky jerks). Some women have irregular periods. I had irregular periods for quite awhile afterward. It just took some time.
Remember, your body was on a false regular cycle. It was regular simply because of fake hormones. So maybe 28 days isn't your natural cycle at all. I would say just be patient, if you were smart and used condoms EVERY time after stopping the pill, you're most likely just fine. Your period will show up eventually. Although, I would say that if you come up on the next time you are supposed to have your period (as in, a month or so after the first one was missed) and you're still not having a period, THEN go see the doctor.

Ok um, well when I say we used condoms, we did once, then he refused to use them again, he would have just not had sex with me and as I didnt want that, stupidly I thought it would be ok not to. I can see what an idiot that makes me after looking at it written.
My periods have always been really regular, on and off the pill. I am pretty sure that we didnt have sex when I was ovulating, I usually feel really different for a couple of days in the middle of my cycle which I assumed was me ovulating, and that is what happened 2 weeks ago. I had not had sex for a week before that, so sperm probably wouldnt have survived that long would they?
This is not a Sexual Health issue and does not belong on the Sexual Health boards (thread moved).
Questions about birth control, pregnancy fears, or your period belong on either the Birth Control, Pregnancy - Teen, or Women's Health board, whichever is most appropriate. Thanks.
