| Re: yogurt for yeast? does it work?
I never tried it, but I'd heard to dip a tampon in plain yogurt (be sure it's not flavored, just plain) and insert that. I never heard the other way. I don't have experience with this method, but I've heard others have success with it. Of course, you only insert the yogurt when you have an actual yeast infection, not to prevent one.
To prevent yeast infections, try AZO yeast pills (sold in the drugstore near the OTC yeast treatments). I take one of those pills daily to help prevent yeast infections along with 2 chewable acidophilus pills. Now, I still get yeast infections but nowhere near as often as before (I go about 6 months between infections now; considering I was getting them every 3 weeks, this is a huge improvement). You can also eat yogurt daily to help prevent yeast infections, but I found for the yogurt to work, I had to eat it every day; skipping a day or 2 was like begging the infection to come back. I find the AZO yeast/acidophilus combo works best for me. The 2 work better together than alone because I tried the acidophilus alone & it didn't help as much.
