| Re: What exactly is a coloscopy and a biopsy?
Hi Kaylinn,
A colposcopy is usually done when a PAP comes back abnormal. The doctor will put a vinegar-like solution on your cervix and take a look at your cervix with a high powered microscope. If the doctor sees something out of the ordinary, he/she will do a biopsy of the suspicious area(s). The biopsy will tell you what you are dealing with.
I would suggest you get with your doctor and take a list of all your questions about your PAP and upcoming colpo. They should also provide a copy of your PAP result, if you wish, upon your signed consent. The fact that they scheduled the colpo for Sept instead of right away kinda says that they are not TOO worried about the PAP result but want to check it out. If the PAP result showed something alarming, they would call ou back for the colpo as soon as possible. Just be sure to keep your colpo appointment and follow ups :-)
