PMS symptoms. Is this normal?

I know my period is coming up within a few days, and I am just wondering if what I'm going through is normal. Usually I'll have headaches, and cramps ahead of time and I'll know why. The past few days I have been SOO tired, and cannot sleep. I feel really jittery, my legs are so weak that when I walk around it feels like im going to fall *even though I am not lightheaded or dizzy at all* Also, my heart races from time time.

Can all this be from PMS? And has anyone had these symptoms before? I feel so weak and just want to sleep all day.

Re: PMS symptoms. Is this normal?

Last month I had the same thing with the not sleeping and weak legs. My legs and hands were shaking all the time. This started like a week before my period. I had never experienced it before. The fact that I was not sleeping could have been caused by something else, though (just thought I would put that out there). After a few days of not sleeping, I found that I was able to sleep all night, but found it hard to get up in the morning. I know that wanting to sleep all the time could be a sign of depression, so I thought I had PMDD. Anyway, I would suggest that you give your doctor a call. If this is something that you have never experienced before it is a really good idea to get it checked out. That's what I did. I can tell you that the doctor found nothing wrong with me. She ran a whole bunch of tests since I was sick a few weeks before. But like I said this is something that you really should talk to your doctor about.

What's normal for some people, isn't always normal for others. Once in a while, before my period my hands will get shakey.. like I've had way too much caffine or something! There have been times where my legs will start shaking for what seems to be no reason. This usually happens when doing something active after not having eaten in a while. Even though I'm not diabetic or anything, it seems as though my blood sugar gets too low. And the shakiness will go away after drinking juice or eating a little something.

Are you on Birth Control? That can always have strange effects on people.

The fatigue could definitely be pms related. It's normal for me to feel constantly tired before my period arrives. Not just sleepy tired, but emotionally, physically.. everything, like it takes a huge amount of effort to just get up and walk to another room. I get a whole list of pms symptoms.. it's not fun. I started my BC up again, and it helps some of the symptoms.

For your shakiness, maybe you should try taking an iron supplements during your period? Or try a snack when the jitteriness starts. You never know, it might be something as small as needing a quick jolt of nutrition!

If these symptoms are unusal for you, and whether or not you recently started BC or have been on teh same one for yours.. if it continues you should mention it to your Gyno. It never hurts to be safe...
