Which lab tests should I ask for?
I've had some discharge tinged with blood for the past couple of days. I thought it could be the start of my period as this is when I usually get it. No period though. I've had this discharge once before but it went into a period quickly. I'm concerned because I also have some low cramps with it - they're like period cramps, but milder. I've been feverish feeling and tired on and off. I've felt groggy the whole morning and just now am getting the cramps, and some pain in my vaginal area. It's almost like a UTI (I've had those before), but I have bloody discharge too. It's not uncommon for me to miss periods; I'm slightly underweight and when I go through stress and don't eat as well, I'll miss. Though I haven't skipped for several months until last month I didn't get it. This month it looks like I'll skip too. I'm almost positive I'm not pregnant as the last time I had sexual contact was early August (we didn't even have sex - he was just inside me for a few seconds). I took two preg tests at the end of August, both negative.
I don't want to internet diagnose myself, but I've read that infections and STD's can cause these symptoms. I guess I should call my gyno and ask for a sample of the discharge to be drawn and tested. Though I'm not sure if that is how gonharrea and other STD's are diagnosed; I know there are blood tests for some of those. A UTI can be detected from a urine test. I also have had some red bumps (size of pimples) just inside my bikini line (b/w that and my vagina). They come and go. I don't know if this is anything significant. I've read other women mentioning the bloody discharge on these forums but didn't pay attention as it's been years since I've had it and before it went straight into a period so I didn't worry. I'd like to go to the gyno because I'm due for a PAP anyway, and because of the feverishness and grogginess, I'm a little worried. Anyone have these symptoms before, and what did your gyno have you tested for? I know the office will do what they want to do anyway, but I want to have some idea as my gyno isn't that great. I would go to my regular doctor's clinic, but I know they don't want to handle these things.
