Monistat and yogurt

Okay so I am getting ready to start monistat for a yeast infection. I know that it is recommended that you eat yogurt while on the medication to replace the good bacteria that is lost with the treatment. My question is does anyone know how many times a day I should eat the yogurt and how much. Also can you use monistat if you are on your period. I am "supposed" to start tomorrow (might be pregnant) so I just need to know asap because I will start the monistat tonight if I can.

Thanks,
Sunnie

Re: Monistat and yogurt

I would eat yogurt and drink alot of water when I was on antibotics to prevent myself from having a yeast infection. I usually ate about 2-3 cups of yogurt a day. Not at all the same time.. probably one in the morning, one for a snack and probably one more later in the evening. So, I guess it might work the same way... good luck with that!

Re: Monistat and yogurt

Thanks! Man I hate yeast infections. They always come at the worst times! GRRRRRR! Sorry just had to vent for a second. I will try the three times a day thing. Hopefully that works. I keep getting a reoccuring irritation in that area that until recently I thought was just an allergic reaction to body wash. But it would happen at the same time each month. I figured out it was a yeast infection due to a strong antibiotic I took a couple months ago for a tooth infection. The antibiotic said you can have these problems for months after taking it. GGGEEEEERRRROOOOSSSSS!!!!!!!!

Monistat is not an antibiotic so you should have no need for the yogurt. I never have and I can look cross-eyed at an antibiotic and get a yeast infection!
