Swollen ankles -- menstruation related?

Yesterday was the second day of this month's menstruation for me, and I noticed my ankles are swollen. Today it's still the same.

It's not painful at all, so it could be that they were swollen on the first day and/or before that also and that I just didn't notice.

I've searched online* a bit and I find sites that say some women get swollen ankles before their menstruation, but I didn't see anything about during the period.

It doesn't bother me that much, and I trust it will go away in a few days, but I'm wondering whether I'm doing something wrong that caused this. (Because I don't remember this happening in earlier months.) Could it be caused by wrong food or lack of exercise? (Both could be the case; I'm in the middle of a study period these weeks; very sedentary.)

Thanks for any information.

*I tried to use the verb derived from a popular search engine, and it gets replaced by ******. Why?

Re: Swollen ankles -- menstruation related?

If your swelling is menstruation-related water retention, I've heard that reducing salt and drinking water can help. Maybe activity will help, too, it usually helps most minor complains.

Mine usually appears a few days before and goes away within the first day of.

And the reason you can't use that word is that it's not allowed. There are some rules on this forum that may surprise newcomers.
