painful lump between anus and vagina. help!

last night i realized that i had a lump between my anus and vagina. it is closer to the vagina than the anus. it is painful and red. i do not have a fever, but i do have some lower abdominal pain for the past couple days. it makes walking and sitting uncomfortable. it is not a very large lump, it is about the size of a very large pimple. the area around this lump itches a bit too. should i go to the doctor? i am reluctant because i am scheduled for a laproscopy on the 9th, and i know getting sick before it might prevent it from happening. if this is something i could just treat on my own, i would prefer that. since last night the lump hasnt gotten bigger, just more painful. i looked at bartholin cysts online, and i do not think this is one, it is not in the right place. help please!

Sounds like a cyst or infected hair follicle, or a bump due to yeast.

Does the bump have a white top (festered)?

Check with your doctor. It is not wise to have laproscopy if you have an infection of some sort.

Re: painful lump between anus and vagina. help!

It is probably a perineal abcess. I have had these 5 times in my life and they come up suddenly. It will get sore and if you push on it a little it probably feels hard and warm. The best thing for it is sitting in warm water to encourage it to open up and drain. (Which is quite nasty) Probably should call your dr also for anitbiotics. It can get into your blood and cause a temp and spreading of infection. I have run temps with mine sometimes and feel like I have the flu. Hope it gets better soon.

Could it be a hemorrhoid? You say that you have had lower abdominal pain. Are you constipated?
