About every other month, I come down with almost flu like symptoms before I get my period. This past week I had a horrible headache, was extremely tired, chills, (no fever) but would get very hot as well. I can only explain it as not feeling well, like before you get sick.
This has been going on for years with me. Many times I think I am coming down with a cold or the flu, only to get my period a few days later.
Is this normal and does anyone else have experience with this? Do you know why this happens? I am only 32 years old and like I said, this has been happening to me for as long as I remember.
I get hot flashes before my period, as well as feeling extremely tired, and my legs even feel sore and achey, like when you get the flu. I used to get nauseous, but BC seems to have settled that.. same as the achey legs. Headaches are still a common part of PMS for me
Hi ya well l always thought it was due to my thyroid probs OR doc let me think that with my levels been all over the place (graves disease thyroid removed july 07) still have the dreaded pmt monster grrr a few years ago before l was dignosed with the thyroid issue l was told to take evening primrose and vitamin b6 l think it was it helped only a little then l was told to try agnus castus (typo?) I never tried it so dont know if it would of helped or not... had to be careful what l was taking whilst on anti thyroid medication so l just suffered... and still do. I cannot function when it has me on my knees what have you tried? x
One thing that acutally helps most of my PMS is any type of Midol. I used to refuse to buy it, thinking it was the same as tylenol and advil.. then one day it was on sale and I figured I'd try it.. Now I'm pay the money b/c it really does work for me.
Pain killers that are not blood thinners work for me.
Midol works too but only specific kinds for me and it tends to get pricey.
Take them before you get sick or at the beginning and bring them along w/ you.
I think it is normal because I am losing a lot of blood and am anemic.
My aunt wasn't though and had it so bad once that she had to be rushed to the hospital. Now she doesn't have the pain. It went away.
I Never used a heating pad or consulted a doctor about it.
