I am 24 and I went to India and got a bacterial gut infection which caused various gastrointestinal problems (diarrohea, stomach cramps etc), all of which were relieved after a year apart from constant nausea.

Also, I had bloating and agonising pain after sex, and then it just started happening randomly and regularly: Severe bloating, pain and flatulence, still with the constant nausea.

I've had abdominal and pelvic ultrasounds and all they've seen is cysts on my ovaries (which she said were nothing to worry about) and fluid in my "canal of douglas" whatever that is. Nobody said there was a problem with either of these things.

I'm worried because I haven't had a menstrual period for a year. I still get all the PMT. I get all the terrible cramping and hormone fluctuations regularly every month but nothing comes out. No blood. The Doctor is dealing with my nausea by giving me pills, and I haven't lost a huge amount of weight. I was more stressed at the beginning of the illness (when I was in India) than I am now.

I'm worried I have an infection in my uterus, because while in India I used the water sprays after going to the toilet. Everyone knows Indian water is not ideal, and I thought maybe I could have used the water spray just before I had sex, and somehow some bacteria got pushed up into my uterus.

Anyone had a similar experience, or can offer any help?
