Exclamation VERY sudden HEAVY PERIOD. I've NEVER had a heavy flow before.

I am 18 and up until about a year ago I have always had regular, light periods. I had a baby when I was 15 and even while bf-ing for 9 months, I had very regular periods with no problems. DD is 2 1/2 now and for almost the past year I have thought I was pregnant maybe 10 times because my period would be 1-3 weeks late with horrible cramping, mood swings and very VERY tender breasts. This is very unusual for me. Now, I just started on the 16th (yesterday) and it seemed normal and actually kinda on time (about 30 days) but a few hours ago after changing my tampon, I let loose some ping pong ball size clots and then inserted a fresh Reg size tampon. 15 minutes later, I thought I had forgotten to insert a tampon because I felt leaking. Sure enough, my tampon had COMPLETELY filled and was almost steadily streaming. I am still having some pretty large clots and am feeling very bloated and am wondering if this is something I should be concerned about. I know that some clots are common and that a lot of people have heavy flows, but I've had my period for 10 years and I've never had a heavy flow in my life.

Re: VERY sudden HEAVY PERIOD. I've NEVER had a heavy flow before.

It's been a couple hours, and I'm still bleeding very heavy and passing huge clots. Any advice is MUCH APPRECIATED. Keep in mind, I have NEVER had to use a Super absorbancy before in 10 years, and I'm soaking them within the hour.

Re: VERY sudden HEAVY PERIOD. I've NEVER had a heavy flow before.

You want to go to the doctor if your flow remains so heavy. A girl I knew had this problem and went to the ER. Turns out she was having a miscarriage. Not that you are having one but with the odd things that have been going on with your cycle; it might be a good idea to get it checked out because you never know what it could be. Keep us posted, good luck. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.
