Try Aleve. The original version - Anaprox - was prescribed for cramps. Then they found it was good for many other things.

I'm surprised that your doctor didn't do an exam because you're not 21 or sexually active. What does that have to do with it? You can still have problems going on down there! You need to go back and have an exam done and have your doctor take this more seriously, or find a new doctor. Also, you probably need to be on a different type of birth control. Maybe the one you're on just isn't the right one for you.

My OB/GYN recommends taking 4 ibuprophen (advil) every 4-6 hours and it significantly reduces the blood flow. There was a study out recently that also verified this information. You may try that for several days of your cycle.

I do agree though that you still could have a cyst or fibroid or something without being sexually active. If you are still having issues, I would go back and tell the dr. you want an exam.

Most doctors recommend trying any kind of birth control pill at least for 3 months straight to see if it is effective for you when trying to control flow, etc.
