Please someone help me, please--it's hormone-related

Hello. I thought if I could stop crying long enough to post, I would feel better.
I really need advice.

My emotions are all over the place. Two transvaginal ultrasounds and 2 pelvic ultrasounds showed I had a cyst on my ovary and a fibroid in my uterus. I was told the fibroid had shrunk and was very small.

I had surgery on Wed. and I did not have a cyst, the fibroid had not shrunk and was instead attached to my ovary. What I thought my surgeon told me while I was just coming out of it in recovery was that he separated the tumor from the ovary but did not remove the tumor. Is that even possible????? Where did it go?

I had the ultrasounds done because for many months I have had PMS for 3 weeks out of 4 and have had no life.

My dr. and I both thought that removing the supposed cyst from my ovary would solve this problem.

I honestly don't know what's going on now, but I know I'm an emotional wreck and I feel I'm at my breaking point.

My post-op is Monday.

Does anyone know what I can do now? It sounds crazy, but I'm afraid that the tumor is still connected to my ovary...I don't even know.

Do I see an endocrinologist for hormonal problems? What do I do to get my hormones under control? I can't live like this anymore.

Someone please tell me what to do--where I go from here? Has anyone had a similiar experience?

I haven't had a life in so long and now that I'm hormonal again, I just feel so defeated and confused. I hope someone can help.

Thank you very much.

Salty

Want to apologize for my post where I BEG for help

Hello.

Thinking I may have missed the email letting me know I have an answer to my post, I saw my thread where I write Please, Please help.

I am embarrassed that my hormones have made me a needy wreck and I'm sorry for posting so desperately. I know there are people who have bigger problems.

Hopefully someone will have had a similar experience or know what I should do.

Thank you.

Salty

Hi Salty,

I am sorry to say that I have not had any type of experience you've had but I couldn't just read your post and not reply - you really sound like you need some support right now!

I've recently gotten some hormone-related problems and pms symptoms under control using herbal medicine and supplements through my naturopathic doctor. Perhaps you could see a holistic doctor to help get your hormomes back on track. Also, the whole idea behind holistic medicine is to find the CAUSE of the problem, not just to treat the symptoms. In your case, I think it would be a great place to start!

I know how uncomfortable and lonely some of those hormone-related feelings are and that they can really impact your daily life.

Good luck and let me know if there is anything else I can do for you!

Shanna

Re: Please someone help me, please--it's hormone-related

I think that if you want to get a good baseline of your hormones, you should check with an endocrinologist, who can run a complete blood panel on all of your levels. When I was having hormonal problems after quitting the pill, my gynecologist reccommended an endocrinologist to get those blood tests done. So, I think that would be a good place to start.

Once you get an idea of your hormone levels with the bloodwork, you should be able to discuss your options with the endocrinologist. Assuming that something is found in the bloodwork, you can start working on a solution.

I know it can be really frustrating when you don't know what's going on, but that's why it's important to try to get some answers. And I think personally that an Endocrinologist is probably a good place to start.

Re: Please someone help me, please--it's hormone-related

Shanna, thank you so much for writing back. I really was hoping for support and now I have some.

A holistic doctor is a great idea. I am not supposed to use any herbs or supplements that are estrogenic because this is the 3rd time I have had a fibroid and I had 2 previous cysts which had to be removed.

Does insurance cover anything towards holistic medicine? How often do you see your holistic dr.?

Finding the CAUSE is really what I need. This has been going on for so long!

How did you go about finding a good doctor? Where did you begin? Of course I'd love to find a good one who I can trust. Please fill me in on the process.

Thank you so much for your advice.

Hope to hear back from you.

Salty
