Question Abnormal bleeding-history of dysplasia

Hi everyone. I don't know if I'm on the right board or not. I have been having spotting/bleeding between my periods. Last month it was just brown discharge, this month it's actual bleeding. I finished my period a week ago and today have red blood when I wipe. I am 29, not on the pill, no STDs, not pregnant and have been with only my husband for the past 4 years. About 2 years ago I had a LEEP done for an abnormal PAP. Since then I've had 3 completely normal PAPs. Any idea what this could be? I have an appointment with my OB/GYN on Ftiday. Thanks for your help!

Re: Abnormal bleeding-history of dysplasia

Hi Confused78,

Do you know what your biopsy said from your LEEP 2 years ago? It would help you understand what is going on if you had a copy of it. Also, are you going to your gyn just to let her know about your period stuff, for your regular pap, or for another procedure? I'm sorry to be asking so many questions, but I think these answers might help us give you some advice.

My advice might not fit your situation at all, but I suggest if your doctor ever performs a colposcopy ask him/her if he/she'll also do an ECC (endocervical curettage). The ECC scraped the endocervical canal to sample for abnormal cells. A pap can't sample the canal, but the ECC can. An ECC is one reason I have been diagnosed so early. I think God my doctor decided to do one!

I look forward to you writing back.

Re: Abnormal bleeding-history of dysplasia

Thanks for your response. When I had the colposcopy it showed mild-moderate dysplasia. Then when he did the LEEP it showed nothing, all margins were clear. I have the ECC and it was normal as well. Since then I've had three normal PAPs.
I'm not due for another PAP until September, but I think I'll have him do it now anyway.
Could it be from something else? Ovulating? Hormone levels?
Thanks again!!
