Period vs. healing?

A couple days ago I got a small tear in the perineum area while having sex, and now I have started my period. The blood from my period can't like "infect" the tear, can it? Or will it slow down the healing?? I decided not to use tampons this time around just because of the tear, but now I'm thinking maybe I should so that the tear can heal up better? I've never given birth or anything so never had a tear or stitches or anything in that area, so I don't really know what to do or expect, I was just guessing that I probably shouldn't use tampons or anything while it's healing? Any suggestions??

Re: Period vs. healing?

You will be fine no matter what you use. Just make sure you wash up at least once a day and change your pad or tampon a little more often than normal....it doesn't matter which one just keep yourself clean. It would be unusual for you to get an infection. You are built pretty good for things like this.
