Someone please give me advice here.....I was diagnosed with Vaginitis back in January. Used Vandazole cream for 5 days. I started having vaginal burning 3 days after I got off the medication. I went back to my Gyno and she checked me again for Vaginitis and it came back negative. I did have an elevated PH so she gave me Acid Jelly to restore my PH back to normal. I used that and the burning was worse. I used it for one day and headed back to my GYNo in frustration. She re-checked my PH and it was normal. Odd....I only used the Acid Jelly for one day. ANyway, the PH was not my problem, since when it was too high I was burning and when it wa normal I was still burning. I was sent home and told to ice the area and wear loose clothing. This didn't work so I went and had a Vaginal Culture done, also came back negative. I was so mad! I saw another GYno at a different clinic in hopes for an answer. She also cheked for me yeast/vaginitis and came back negative also. I have also been check for chlamydia/gonorrhea even though I am married and faithful, but they had to rule those out also. I saw anothe Gyno and she recommended using Premarin Cream ( I am 27!), and I was kind of feeling not so good about this. So I sought another opinion. I saw a GYno who used Q-tips and poked around on the outside of my vaginal area to check for Vulvodynia and it was fine... He ordered a DNA probe test for Vagintis/Yeast and it came back positive for Garderella Vaginits. I went back and saw him to discuss the results. I told him that I have had several negative cultures, and my PH is normal and now you are telling me by this one test that I am positive. My other Gyno told me that I had to have a few different positive tests to diagnose vagintis like a high PH, positive whiff test, and clue cells. He said he'll do another Dna test to see what comes up this time, but to treat for vagintis anyway, then use monistat after, and then if those don't work, used the estrogen cream... if that fails also he said I probably have something called Vestibulitis! I am so confused. I am 27 never had problems and this all started after I had/treated my Vaginits back in January. I have horrible burning that seems to come and go for whatever reasons, showering causes it at times, underwear, sitting, pants, or sometimes it's just there. When I had my last menstrual cycle it was horrible, Not sure if it was from the pad rubbing or from my period causing irritation. If anyone has had a similar problem or knows what could be causing this buring, please feel free to write to me. I am desperate.

Re: Help!!!! Vaginal Burning for 3 months!! URGH!!!
Hi: I'm so sorry you have vaginal burning. I have Vulvar Vestibulitis which is a subset of Vulvodynia. Your symptoms sound like Vulvodynia to me, even though the Q tip test didn't cause you pain. You could try to find a Vulvar Pain Specialist since most Gynecologists are useless when it comes to Vulvodynia. Also, some Dermatologists treat Vulvodnia. What I did was look in the phone book and call Gynecologist offices and Dermatologists office to see if the Drs. there treat Vulvodynia. There are also several books about treating Vulvodynia. Do a search on this site as there are older posts from other Vulvodynia sufferers. I find Aveeno baths to be soothing. Also, wear white cotton underwear, wear skirts and don't sit for long periods of time if you don't have to. When all else fails, use an icepack to relieve itching and burning. I use Estrace cream as opposed to Premarin cream. Premarin is made from pregnant horse urine. You don't have to be menopausal to use estrogen cream. It has helped me and many others who have Vulvodynia. I hope you can find a good Dr. That's the most frustrating part as Drs. aren't taught much about Vulvodynia in medical school. Good luck.

You're not using the drugs this last gyn prescribed, are you? That'll just make it worse.
I actually use lidocaine. An anesthetic. Hey, it works.
You might benefit from steroids, perhaps. I also agree with Sunshine that you should find a gyn or dermatologist who specializes in vulvar pain conditions.

Have you changed anything lately like detergents or soaps? You may want to start taking probiotics. I LOVE Threelac. This will restore the PH balance naturally and prevent yeast infections. I use estrogen cream for dryness. Do you have that? That can cause irritation.
