Is it normal to pee once at night at my age?

Im at 26 year old female. about four or five years ago I noticed that I now get up once a night too pee when I never used to at all. I thought it was just because I was getting older, bigger bladder, more water, hormones who knows!

Now that Im having another issue with urination sensations during the day I am wondering if it IS normal to get up and pee once a night. by night I really mean early morning.. sometimes Ill get up at 2am BUT most of the time is anywhere between 4-7. Does anyone else get up to go? how old were you when it started.

Re: Is it normal to pee once at night at my age?

It just started for me about a year ago, when I was 37. I stop drinking all fluids at a certain time in the evening, but even then I get up at least once to "go". Sometimes more than once.

Re: Is it normal to pee once at night at my age?

Hi there, I'm also 26 and find myself getting up once at night to pee as well. Before I had a baby I still had to do it. It's annoying, but it happens, so I deal with it. I actually went to a urologist because I wanted to make sure my "one hour bladder" wasn't something else. It's not. It's just me. Hope that helps.

Are you noticing any changes in your thirst during the day? Increase? Get checked for diabetes.

Re: Is it normal to pee once at night at my age?

Yeah, I don't think that at 26 it's normal to have to get up to pee in middle of the night. I don't think it would be at 30 or 40 either.

It's usually an indication that something's wrong - like diabetes, or in my case, a fibroid putting pressure on my bladder. (or pregnancy, but I think you'd know if that was the case)

Re: Is it normal to pee once at night at my age?

Well this freaks me out.. because I started peeing early morning about 3 years ago or so. I cant see how it would mean I ahve a problem. Oh well Im waiting ot find out because I had an ultrasound over this other thing I have going on where I feel I have to pee a bit ore when finished (during the day)

WHen I started having to get up at like 5-6 at night to pee a few years back I just thought.. oh Im getting older, or I drink more water now or something.
Im so obsessed and worried about this now and I honestly cant recall if I do it EVERY night.. I almost do it in my sleep I think. I know its close to every night. but like I said just once a night and its early morning actually.

Re: Is it normal to pee once at night at my age?

It could be just habit. Your body has gotten used to getting up to go to the bathroom at night. Also, if you drink a lot of water, or alcoholic beverages or coffee, you'll obviously go more often.

Bottom line, I wouldn't worry.

Now, getting up several times per night to go to the bathroom is not normal in a young woman who isn't pregnant. If that starts happening to you, see a doctor.

Re: Is it normal to pee once at night at my age?

I'm 28 and I usually get up at least once early morning to pee. Usually around 4 or 5. I don't think I'm worried about it, I think my body just thinks its time to get up so I get the urge to pee like I always do upon waking. I do drink a lot of water all the way up until bed time so maybe that is why as well. I have been tested for diabetes with routine blood work and nothing abnormal has ever been found. I pee during the day often, but I also drink a lot of water throughout the day as well and drink coffee. Plus, to boot I have anxiety issues so that can increase my need to pee as well. Fun stuff :-)

Re: Is it normal to pee once at night at my age?

ha, I think I have anxiety too.. I went to the doctor not over this peeing once at night/early morning but because Ive had this thing with feeling I hvae to pee a bit more when Im done/standing from peeing. Ever since I went to the doc last monday and she told me I might have this Pelvic inflammation my mind has been running wild. Now my feeling like I have to pee a little more HAS turned into frequent urination (atleast for me) I usually only go about 4-5 times a day.. at most. Ever sinse last week Im going more like 8 or so... I have like 100% concentration on my bladder.

Well I got ALL my test results back and I dont even have this Pelvic inflammation.. Thank God, but now I still struggling with peeing alot.. aahh!!

I think the peeing at night thing could have become habit.. I could see that happening. That and I bought into this whole, drink TONS of water stuff in the last few years.

Re: Is it normal to pee once at night at my age?

Nocturnal urination is not normal. If urinary and blood sugar problems have been eliminated, and medications are not causing the problem, screening for sleep disorders should be done as nocturia (peeing at night) is a common symptom of a sleep disorder. Unfortunately, most doctors don't know this....

Re: Is it normal to pee once at night at my age?

I get up almost every night to pee and it is not time bound, anytime between 12 - 7. And as far as I remember this has been going on since childhood, I don't exactly remember the age..I guess 5 or 6 and now I am 26. I don't think anything is wrong with me and i do not bother about it. This might be happening because I drink water a lot the whole day and also just before going to sleep. I take coffee (very little coffee added in pure milk) just in the morning and I do not drink any type of alcohol at all.

Sometimes it's annoying to get up from deep sleep but it is always better to empty the bladder ASAP rather than harming the kidneys.

This may be little funny but when I get up early night between 1-4am I become very happy and say to myself, "O! I still have ample of time to sleep" and when I get up around 5-6am, I say "O no! I just have 1-2 hrs to sleep more".

I know my cousin (she was prematurely born n so had problem), she used to pee in bed until she grew up 20. We had to wake her up at mid-night to get her to the toilet otherwise there would be a mess. I know this is not related but just wanted to mention that rather than having a serious kidney or bladder problems and a mess in a bed, it is always better to get up and use toilet.

Re: Is it normal to pee once at night at my age?

ha! I do that exact same thing!.. I almost enjoy it when it happens earlier in the night when I have plenty of time to sleep... when its right before time to get up. not so much.
Ive looked up Nocturia or whatever.. some articles say if you go 2 times or more its a problem/Noctoria, and others say even if you go one time or more its a problem... I dont know what to think. There are SO many people telling me they go at night sometimes, and some are my age.
If gonig once is an issue, then I think we have an unknown epidemic health issue going on with people and they dont even know it!
