I am 25 years old and I have never had a regular period. When I was 17, doc put me on bc for three months and then took me off to see if my body caught on to what it was supposed to be doing, to no avail. I have been on bc 3 or 4 times after that. Pap smears always come back normal. My gyno ordered blood tests for every hormone and it all came back withing normal range. I will go for about a year without a period and then I will have one with severe bleeding, cramping, clotting. I miss a lot of stuff because I am in too much pain to do anything. My gyno says that there is nothing wrong but that it could possibly be uterine cancer but has never said anything further or ordered more tests. Should I find a new gyno or just keep pushing that something is not right?
Going on and off birth control can actually make your periods irregular all by itself. It could be that going on BC and staying on it could help with the problem.
Irregular periods are not, in themselves, a disease, nor are they necessarily a sign there is something seriously wrong with your body. However, periods as badly irregular as yours are unusual and should probably be investigated. Have you had an internal exam? Or an ultrasound?
hi ya i cant believe the same thing is happening 2 me i tryed everything to have a normal period but to no avail true the pill regualr exercises losing weight nothing changed my period i get 1 a year and cant describe how painful it is when i get it, i have cysts on my overies and had them removed by surgery only for them to come back, im the same age 25 and never had a regular period the doc said nothing was wrong so i changed doc and had to fight to get taken seriously because my age and weight was fine they said i was fine but i colapesed and got diagnosed with cysts on my overies via ulta sound, and l/t, and the doc said the were so large they could have ruptured so i think maybe you should get a second opinion i cant hurt and you know your own body and your instinct is something not to ignore
I have not had an internal exam or an ultrasound. I haven't been on bc in a while because the last bc that she put me on, made everything ten times worse and then she told me to take 2 bc pills a day. In order for me to start the bc they put me on Provera where I get every possible side effect. It's not fun. I have an appointment with my doctor tomorrow morning, I am hoping to get this figured out and have some more tests done.
