Unhappy ovarian cysts and bleeding between periods

Hi, three weeks ago I suffered extreme pain in my sides. It got so bad that I ended up in the ER. The doctor there pushed on my stomach and declared that I had ovarian cysts and gave me pain meds and sent me home. I have been in varying degrees of pain on and off for the last three weeks and on Sunday started what I thought was my period 2 weeks after I finished the last one. The bleeding has been heavy for me, with a lot of clotting. It has also not been what I would call normal menstrual bleeding. Any thoughts? I don't have insurance and don't want to run to the doctors when there is no reason.. Please help .. thanks Tory

Hey, I'm sorry for your pain and issues, Tory. That sucks! First off, did they do any exams or testing when you went to the ER?! They should've done an ultrasound if they thought you had ovarian cysts! To rule out things, etc. I would go back to the Dr and ask that you get an ultrasound done, to see what's going on and if a cyst possibly ruptured?! I'm no expert at all but that is what I would do. Even though you don't have insurance...at least call your Dr's office and tell them your dilemma and see what they say; I'm sure they can work something out with you not having insurance. I'd hope so, your health is important!! Good luck and I hope you feel better soon.

Re: ovarian cysts and bleeding between periods

Hello Tory,

Most definitely, cysts must be verified by an ultrasound. At the very least if the doctor could actually feel the cysts you should have been referred for an ultrasound to see what type of cysts you have and if they need to be removed. As for the irregular bleeding, this also needs to be checked out. It could be related or it could be a separate problem. Either way, more followup needs to be done.

Call your doctor. You are not running to see the doctor for nothing believe me. Unusual pelvic pain and irregular bleeding need to be checked out. Could be as simple as fibroids but you need to look into it.

Best,

Estria
