Itching down below?!

This is driving me bonkers! - I have had severe itching in my pubic area for months now - the itching is so intense at times that I just have to have a scratch - resulting in sore patches that have actually oozed - which then dry out to form large flakey patches - the only thing that seems to help is Sudacream (nappy rash cream) although i doesn't cure it - sometimes the itch is so bad it feels like my skin is actually crawling if that makes sense?! any suggestion would be really appreciated - thanks, LisaB

Re: Itching down below?!

You have to see a doctor about this. You might have something called a yeast infection, or thrush. It's not an STD, just an ordinary infection like a cold that happens to women sometime.

However, if it's been going on this long, there might be other problems as well. See a gynecologist. If you are still living with your parents, you may not want to explain the problem to them, but "I need to see the doctor, I haven't been feeling well, it's girl stuff," might be enough of an explanation for Dad.

Re: Itching down below?!

You do need to go to the gyno because it could be something as simple as an allergy to some soap or to as major as herpes! Since it's active, the doctor can take a scraping and test for herpes. Yes, herpes can show itself as an itching rash. Since it's not going away though...it's probably not herpes...because even though herpes cannot be cured, the outbreaks do suspend after about 2 weeks usually although an initial outbreak can be lengthy.

Boy, do I relate! I visited my doctor who promptly tested me for diabetes as yeast infections are quite common with this disease. I didn't have diabetes but found out I was borderline, so I have improved my diet and increased my excercise routine.

I started taking a candida supplement, 'KandidaPlex' from Vitamin Research Products, along with their Culturelle product, and I got relief after only a week! I expect to be on this product for a long time as my research showed candida is very, very common. I also now take VRPs probiotic BioPro to help keep the flora and fauna fresh!

Best of luck to you!
