I am on my 6th day of a 7 day Flagyl treatment of Bacterial vaginitis...my first time. I have taken 12 of 14 pills with no relief of discharge or foul odor. Doctor office said that is may take a few days after I stop taking pills for it to take effect. Is this true? Why hasn't the medication helped at all?

I've been on Flagyl many times and every time ive taken it, it takes a couple days to clear up, then a couple days after i have finished the perscription, it comes back. I don't believe flagyl really works. Talk to your doctor and see if they can get you something else. I have heard that a medication called Clindesse works, but it is expensive. hope i have been of some help.

I've never taken the oral flagyl, only the metrogel cream. I had a diagnosed case of BV earlier this month and used the cream and no relief of pain with added itching by the time I was finished. I don't know if I now have yeast or if the BV is still flared up, the Dr. won't culture it again. I'm trying the peroxide now of 1 tsp to 1 cup water. I just did it externally to make sure it didn't flare up anything and so far so good, and if it stays good, tomorrow I start peroxide douche. I'm sick of meds and twice as sick of using them and having problems still. I've spent a good 60 bucks on meds alone this month plus three Dr. visits and still the same.

Anyway maybe you want to try eating yogurt daily or the peroxide or yogurt inserts while on the med for some added help to get rid of it.
