There are a few things that make a difference, such as if you wear nylons, work in a kitchen or another job that makes you sweaty etc... I found lotion was not the way to go for me, I work in a kitchen and sweat a lot. Using cornstarch or babypowder and wearing clothes that kept my skin from rubbing and touching, like a thong and tighter fitting pants really helped. Then there is less sweat, less tubbing, faster healing. That is what worked for me...
Always use a new razor and anti-bacterial soap when shaving, avoid shave creams to avoid sensitivity issues. I used a shave cream and practically burned my skin, it was uncomfortable for about a week!
