I have been having nipple discharge for about 5 months now. It doesn't come out freely, but when i squeeze my breast (the right one) it comes out. Its not just a little, it squirts out.. When this first started, i thought maybe I was pregnant, but that was in June, and clearly, i'm not.. I do have one child, but he is almost 4 years old.. I tried breast feeding him, but my milk dried up when he was 2 weeks old. I'm really scared.. By the way its milky clear colored, and slightly sticky.. I don't have insurance.. Can someone please offer me advice?.. Tell me what you really think.. Please dont sugar coat it..
They do say to get any nipple discharge checked out. Does it come out if you don't squeeze it? If it doesn't, I'd guess it's hormonal, especially as you've had a child. You could have been pregnant and had a very early miscarriage without even knowing, and your body could have got confused hormonally. If it doesn't discharge unless you squeeze it, I'd stop squeezing it and hope the milk dries up. Is there any pain or tenderness? Do you check for lumps etc? Have the nipples changed in appearance? It could be an infection. Basically, it may not be the scary thing we all worry about, but then again it could. Sorry I couldn't be more help.
Thanks for your info, I appreciate it. It looks like the nipple may be slightly darker, but maybe its all in my head. It does only come out if I squeeze it, but I have gone weeks without bothering it, and then do it, and it's still there. Let me give a little more info.. Back in June, my partner and I were trying to concieve, not the traditional way, but you get the picture. We didn't go to a fertility clinic, or anything like that.. I haven't taken birth control since i was 15... i don't take any other kind of medication.. just the occasional tylenol.. But my periods have also been very different.. They are usually 7-8 days, heavy,.. every month.. the periods I've have since June have been very different than usual. The first couple of months since june, it was 4-5 days, and not heavy like they usually are.. the other couple have been light, and only about 3 days..
I'm not sure what you mean by 'not the traditional way'. Could you possibly be pregnant? Some women continue to have periods even when they're pregnant.
I took alot of pregnancy tests then, and I took one about a month ago.. all were negative... I guess that's why I'm so confused and freaked out.. I was in a relationship with another woman and we had a friend 'donate' to us.. Thats what i meant by 'not the traditional way.'
