Re: pain inbreast what could it be

Hi Nina,

Where is the pain? I had pain in the bottom part for at least a year and my doctor kept saying, cancer doesn't hurt, therefore didn't send me for mammo or tests. After a while, I begged him to send me for tests, and in sept 2006 I was diagnosed with breast cancer, so cancer can hurt. Talk to your doctor and get those tests done asap. I was lucky, the tumor was very small but the more you wait, the more (if it is cancer), it will grow. Good luck and take care. p.s. It could be just your periods, menopause (depending on your age) but better to be safe than sorry.

That is a hard question to answer without knowing a little more history. If you are a nursing mother it could be mastitis or it could be any number of things...breast cysts, infections, and abscesses. Breast cysts are quite common but you need to go to the doctor for diagnosis.

Re: pain inbreast what could it be

I am having breast pain also. I have a sharp pain in my left breast. Usually at night. If I am lying on my back and switch positions, my left breast hurts so badly that it wakes me up. I have an infant that I often carry on my left hip. Do you think I could have "hurt" my breast from the constant contact (lifting, tugging, hanging on that side) the baby has with that side of my body? I have an already scheduled OBGYN appt next week so I will ask about it, but I'm worried. Thanks.
