| Breast swelling/harness
My mom noticed something "odd" with her breast about a year ago (I just learned of this now). About a month ago she experienced severe swelling (seemed like the breat was filled with fluid) and a very sharp shooting pain every so often. About a week ago the part of the breast that was swollen got really hard. She also noticed it is red, painful and warm to the touch.
She went to her PCP and he referred her to a breast specialist who immediately sent her to the hospital. Her first night she was in the ER and got a CAT scan. Yesterday she had a biopsy. I feel that the doctors are keeping us in the dark. I dont know which type of biopsy it was, what they found or what they took out. She is going for another CAT scan tonight.
She is 62 years old. She has NOT been following up with doctors for a LONG time. Last time she was at the gyn was when I was born! Almost 30 years ago. (Im sure we all know people that are like that!) Anyway, does it sound like cancer? Or maybe just an infection? Not sure if she has a fever or if blood work came back ok. Again...in the dark. Im going there tonight and demanding some answers.
Anyone with similar problems or experience with this? They wont know the results from the biopsy for about a week. THANKS!!!!
