why is my period shorter

Hi, i started my period a few days early it seems and it's been shorter than normal. It usually is pretty light and lasts 4 to 5 days, but my last two periods have been starting a few days early and only lasting barely 3 days but day one seems perfectly normal, day two is a little lighter and by day three i only need a panty liner. I don't get it, could i be pregnant? I know::Take a test to be sure, but i'm only 17 and i won't lie, it's got me very worried. Could it just be stress or something?

Re: why is my period shorter

It could be you are pregnant. If it's been going on for a couple of months, the test should be reliable. It'll cost you a tiny bit of money a take a few minutes, then you can either know and deal with it, or stop worrying about it.

However, sometimes a woman's periods change. When I was a teen, my periods were several days of fairly heavy bleeding, now it's only 1-2 days heavy followed by a few days light. It doesn't seem that there's anything wrong with me, it's just the way things are now, so I'm not worried.

My periods grew shorter with my ovarian cyst. Well, my periods were not long, about 3-4 days; but with the cyst, I've had them lighter and shorter, at times like one and a half day! An ultrasound exam will show if anything's wrong, and I hope nothing is!
