| Pelvic Infections And Antibiotics
Ok, Couple weeks ago, I started having pelvic pain. Plus, I've only getting my periods every 2 months, since December 08 (the pain was soreness, it was ok if stayed still, but if I moved around it was a really sore, tender, heavy feeling). Went tot he doctor. They did the following:
Temperature
Blood pressure
Blood Test
Urine test
Vaginal probe ultrasound
Abdonimal ultrasound
Pelvic exam, PAP
And here was the verdict:
No cysts
No tumors
No cancer cells in the PAP
Not pregnant
Urine normal
Blood work normal
HOWEVER, during the PAP, the doctor said my cervix looked "irritated". And the PAP test came back that there was an infection there. So the doctor gave me a antibiotics (half in a shot on the back of my hip, half in one-dose pill form). I asked what kind of infection it was, and he said he needed to send it up to the "big lab" to find out the specific details... So I'm waiting on that. I also asked why I'm skipping periods... He said "since its not tumors, cancer, cysts, and you're nto pregnant, I would say skipping every other one for 5 months would be hormone related. But you should see a GYN to help see if it can be regulated." See, he was a regular doctor, so he helped with the pain/infection problem, but a GYN would be more helpful there.
But my question is--- Does anyone know how long antibiotic shots stay in your body and fight the infection? Or how long they take to kill it off? I woauld say here 4 days later, I feel at least 90% better now, but once in a while I will still fell a little tenderness in the area if I move in a certain way. So just curious.. Hope I don't need to go back and get more medication...
