| Re: what happens when an ovarian cyst dissolves
Hi ladynell,
"Dissolves" simply means that the ovary reabsorbs the cyst back into itself. This actually happens every month as a woman grows small cysts on her ovaries which contain the eggs. At ovulation the most mature follicle (cyst) breaks open to release the egg into the fallopian tube and the other cysts get reabsorbed back into the ovary (ie. they shrink back into the ovarian tissue). The shell of the opened cyst also gets reabsorbed after a time (it first becomes the corpus luteum which puts out progesterone in order to get your body ready for conception).
This is a perfectly normal process of the female body.
Best,
Estria
