| Engorged Womb
Hi,
When I went for my smear this year the nurse tried twice to carry out the test with two different sized speculum, but because this was causing me pain she referred me to my GP. I am 49 and have never had any bother having smears before, so my GP thought it was possible that dryness was the problem and prescribed me Oestrogen pessaries for an month. I then went back to my GP for her to do the smear, but I was still experiencing pain and when she did a quick internal examination, she told me to get dressed as dryness wasn't the problem. She then told me that my womb was engorged and blocking the way to the cervix. I have now had a pelvic ultrasound and I'm waiting for the results.
Can anyone tell me how the womb can be blocking the cervix, as I thought the cervix was at the entrance to the womb and the womb was above the cervix in our bodies?
Any advice or information would be most welcome (I am in the UK btw).
