Unhappy ovarian cyst?

Every other month I will get a sharp pain in my lower left side and it is so bad I can not even walk for the entire day. Sometimes it will radiate to my lower back to one side or both sides. I will kind of feel sick to my stomach when this happens. Most of the time I will have a off and on dull pain in my lower left side everyday. Any advice would be great.

Re: ovarian cyst?

Hi,

When does this occur in the month ? Is it approximately 14 days after the start of your period ? If so, this is most likely ovulation pain. If you continue to experience continuous pain though, ask for a pelvic ultrasound to see what may be going on.

Hope this helps.

Re: ovarian cyst?

It might be worth asking your doctor for an ultrasound appointment... it could be nothing, just normal pain from way your body reacts to your cycle. Everyone is different. But very occasionally women get a cyst on their ovaries that call for medical attention. I had one the size of a grapefruit burst, it was vascular and had to be removed right away. You might want to just get it checked out, and if you end up having, say, policystic ovaries, there are things you can do to decrease the pain and problems. I think you should get an ultrasound and put your mind at ease.
