migraine from epidural

My daughter had complications birthing and has been in the hospital for 5 days now. After epidural her blood pressure skyrocketed. She is suffering a spinal fever (migraine) and is flat on her back all this time. She's been treated with caffeine? yesterday but still has it and can't go home. Other problems exist: low platelets. What is going on and will she be okay?

Re: migraine from epidural

She will be okay. Caffeine is common to treat migranes...even OTC drugs have caffeine in them, when they are "migrane" relief...
You can talk to her doctor tomorow about the possibility of a blood patch, where they use her own blood to plug up where the epidural was done...they do this all the time when a patient gets a headache from a spinal tap- it usually equalizes the pressure and makes the headache stop and the bp regulate. Its a quick procedure, done usually right in her bed- or in an outpatient unit- takes ten minutes and will help considerably. Hope she is okay soon!!
