Very frequent periods

Hi, does anyone here have a period like every 2 weeks, mine was so regular, every 28 days then all of a sudden the last few months its been every 2 weeks! They are actually quite heavy too for the first few days anyway and last a whole week. I am not on the pill but used to be on the mini pill years ago but have had a break for a good year or so now.

Since I am in a fairly new relationship we are very sexually active, this does our heads in with it being so frequent. I would go back on the pill but I dont want to put on weight, I'm 42.

Could it be the very early signs of menopause, I was blood tested for this years ago and it was clear.

x

Re: Very frequent periods

Have you had your thyroid checked for hypothyroidism? Frequent periods were the catalyst for my diagnosis years ago.

Hiya, no I haven't had my thyroid checked for that, I did have a blood test for under active thyroid years ago, I am going to make an appointment at my docs soon to discuss the periods so I will mention that too.

Thanks xx

Re: Very frequent periods

Seansgirl: It should be the opposite if you're entering perimenopause or menopause. The periods should slow down. If you're having more bleeding then that isn't normal. You could have a cyst on your ovaries. Definitely have it checked out so you don't become anemic if you're losing too much blood. Think positive. He might order a laparoscopy for you to see what's going on in there.

Ah yes, years ago, in my early 20's I had a cervical erosion and went in for a laparoscopy and exploratory, they lasered the erosion and reported that my fallopian tubes are very small and scarred from a previous infection that I didnt even know I had, this was a long time ago now so I cannot remember the full details, it must be 20 years ago almost. They did also say it might be a problem me trying to conceive, luckily I decided not to have children anyway.

Wondering if maybe this has recurred. Either way, a visit to the quack is in order.

Thanks xx
