I'm 16 years old and my periods have always been irregular. They usually last for three weeks and I normally bleed light to normal, but another weird thing is I don't bleed when I sleep. I've never been to a doctor for this but I don't really even get pain with it, so it's never bothered me much. Does anyone know what this could be caused from?
surfer: This is NOT normal. You should get in to see a gynocologist for an exam. They'll probably do a laparoscopy. You don't want to have problems later in life if you want to have kids. You could have endometriosis, cysts on your ovaries and uterus, fibroids, and probably other issues. If you are bleeding like this you could end up being anemic. The doctor might recommend birth control pills to help regulate your periods.
Have you told your mother this? Please have her make an appointment for you to get checked out! Better to be safe than sorry!
