| blood and tissue clots(?) but no regular flow

Two days ago I had mild cramps, which is my sign that I'm getting my period the next day. It was a few days early, (which I don't know when I've ever been early), but, the next day I put a pad in for when it started, but it never did. Instead, each time I go to the bathroom, or nearly each time, there is a bright red blood tissue type clump. I've seen them a few times, but it's when I had the regular flow too. I think every time I had this clump in the toilet, it was after a small amount of stool too, like I was going more often too. But, I think perhaps it happened when I didn't have a bowel movement as well.
I haven't really seen anything on the pad that shows there is any blood flow, just these clumps that have come maybe 4-5 times in 2 days now.
The cramps are gone, it's still maybe 1-2 days early, but, if this isn't my period, what is it? And if it is my period, it sure isn't a normal correct flow yet.
I've had my period for about 17 yrs or so so it's not a early irregular problem. I'm always extremely consistent with time, amount, etc.
Any suggestions about what this is would be appreciated.
