Question Sudden Red Spots on Skin

I've recently been getting little pin-tip size dots on my skin, and I'm kinda worried. I have no insurance, so I need to know if I should be worried! Other sites have said that these may be caused by disease or low platelet counts, but I'm perfectly healthy and my platelet count is 390 (I donate regularly). The only thing strange that I've had going on over the last 6 months is blood in my bowel movements occasionally. Any ideas what's going on? Thank you!

Re: Sudden Red Spots on Skin

ImSoPrecious: I have those pin-sized spots too. One doctor I saw back in 2008 told me they're caused by sugar! Who knows. They're harmless as far as I'm concerned. To me they're no different than a freckle.

The blood in the stools isn't good. Are you constipated? Have you ever had a colonoscopy? You need to find out what's going on there. If you're constipated and straining your bowels then you need to add more fiber, water and "P" fruits to your diet.
Beets are also a good source to get you moving and adding magnesium to your diet will help also. You can either take a supplement or eat more nuts and fish. Don't wait for the problem to get worse.

Re: Sudden Red Spots on Skin

Senior Veteran: Thank you so much for your response! Sugar, huh? That kinda makes sense. I got on a fast-food kick for a while, and I've got the pleasure of working it off now! lol The only time I drink plain water is when I'm working out, and the rest of the time I add Crystal Lite packets to my water bottle. I was wondering if that was safe to do, but I think you just answered that question. I'll cut out the added "sweetener" and see what happens. God bless you!

Re: Sudden Red Spots on Skin

ImSoPrecious: Look at the label on the Crystal Lite. If it says it's got Aspartame in it don't drink it anymore. It's poison. Aspartame reduces the amount of Taurine in your brain. Taurine is a neurotransmitter responsible for brain function. I've got a diabetic son and I don't give him much with that stuff in it. I wish the government would ban the stuff. You're better off eating real sugar if you need it even though it's not healthy either. Plain water is better overall. If you need some flavor, put some lemon in it.
