Thumbs down Thick brown blood during periods?

Recently I have been having irregular periods. I wasn't surprised by this because I have had the contraceptive implant inserted and is common with this. However since having this implant, the periods I do have are very light, the blood is thick and brown. It doesn't smell, but I am worried that something might not be right. I don't have any other strange symptoms apart from the periods being a lot more painful.

I'm worried it may be something related to an STI as a friend recently had one and it made me more aware of the fact they do happen. My ex did cheat on me, but that was 2 years ago and since then I have only had one other sexual partner and both of us seem to be fine in terms of sexual health. Could the change in my menstruation be related to an STI?

Re: Thick brown blood during periods?

Brown blood is just old blood that wasn't expelled before. It's normally nothing to worry about.

I don't view painful periods as a good symptom. In the old days I think I remember that certain implants caused injury such as going throught the uterine wall and even sterility. A person could check with a gynecologist

A person could and probably should get yourself checked for this particularly if partners change which by the way I don't suggest anyways.
