I have a quick embarassing question,
Is it safe to clean your vagina with a baby wipe? I have a strong odor down there for some odd reason, i clean it everyday, in the morning, and i take alot of bath's alot, occasinally i'll put deoderant between on my upper thighs, but after a couple hours the smell comes back? So who knows. Is there any other way to get rid of that smell?
I keep baby wipes by my toilet to use for extra cleansing. If they are gentle enough for a baby, I see no reason why they should bother me, unless I become allergic to an ingredient in them. About your smell, it sounds as though you may possibly have an infection. It will not go away on its own and may get worse. You need to see you Dr. if you are seriously concerneda bout it.
thnaks for responding.
I have always had that smell i think its my "natural smell" i thinks its gross. My bf also agreed(in a nice way of course.*laugh*) My last pap was in Jan of this yr. and everything was fine. Like i said its a;ways been there, i seem to get rid of the smell for a couple hours, then it comes back!! weird!!
You mentioned taking tub baths. If you are using a tub do not put anything in the bath water as this could be a cause. Also deodorant is not meant for this area and could cause more problems. Be sure are wearing 100% cotton underwear as synthetic underwear or underwear with only a cotton crotch could be a possible cause. Baby wipes would be fine so long as you only use them for cleansing the outside of your vagina. If you tend to sweat heavily in that area you may need to change your underwear during the day since this could also be a cause of odor.
I use to have the same problem as you- the smell down there and was always so self conscious and depressed.. I went to the doc and she gave me metrogel, an antibiotic cream, which worked for about 1-2 months and then the smell came back. What finally did work was that during my periods I stopped using pads and tampons- instead I used toilet paper- sounds hard to maintain and it is - you have to change it frequently- lucky for me i go to the bathroom every 30min to 1 hour so I change it then. Also you can use 100% cotton cloth instead- either one works- but I don't really like that for myself. well the first time I did it - it worked like a miracle, the problem disappeared so quickly. Try it once and see what happens- by the way I don't think your boyfriend needs to be laughing about it- Men- go figure- anyways good luck.
[This message has been edited by nadine (edited 07-12-2002).]

ya. it could be the bubble bath i use, bath and body works stuff, My mom said a gentle anti bacterial soap and water would be fine.. i'll probably get to my gyno pronto. especially since its summer and u know, we all sweat down there..*laugh* So, i'll see what she says, hopefully this yucky thing goes away.
Toilet paper is not a solution for your period. Why not check into all natural products for your period. I think one such product is called glad rags. Do a search on the web for these products.
Deodorant soap is not recommended for genital cleansing and even regular soap is to be used carefully. Any product used in that area can cause problems. A good simple wash with water and mild soap to the thighs should be all that is needed. If you have lots of trouble with sweating between the thighs you can use a powder such as shower to shower with baking soda to help absorb the moisture. Also if you have any redness or itching in the thighs due to the heat and sweating then that would probably indicate yeast and you should you use an over the counter yeast cream when needed. As mentioned before to all women...check the tag in your underwear to be sure they are 100% cotton as many of the fancy underwear is not 100% cotton. Good Luck.
Hi lostlizzy, if you like Bath & Body Works, you should use shower gels and take showers instead of baths. Just be sure to use plain soap when cleansing down there.
Are feminine wipes safe to use? Like the Playtex or Always wipes?
Feminine wipes are fine after checking the ingrdients in them. The only thing to look out for would be sure the brand is alcohol free and use them only for external cleansing. They are much like a baby wipe so those might be cheaper than actual feminine wipes. The other thing is they do contain fragrance so if you are sensitive to perfumes in products that might be a problem.
Hello, ok, there are feminine deodorant sprays for your underwear. 100% cotton underwear let "you breath" down there. You could also try using a douche bag once a month (preferably after periods.) there are plenty of feminine soups that helps smells. Donít use regular deodorants down by your area. Baby wipes should be fine; to make sure you could ask your gyno. Good luck with all of this.
