hi katiekat, i am sorry to hear that people tease you, people can be rude.
I would suggest that you maybe try using different deoderants to see what works for you and also alot of times as girls grow and get older and mature their bodies change and they can start to go through puberty which can bring on lots of different things. I too had a cousin who suffered from body odor and it was really hard for her because people can be cruel but she kept trying different things to see what worked and i know she uses lots of powders and light smelling deoderant soaps.
You should alse make an appointment with your family doc to discuss this.
Hey, this is nothing to worry over- you can get it taken care of!
I agree with the previous post... experiment with different deoderants. I know many people have found that sprays do not protect them very well. Solid, white deoderant sticks usually offer better protection than gels, gel sticks, sprays, and roll ons. (There are always exceptions, though!)
After you've tried a couple different deoderants, ask your sister if you're still giving off an odor. Sometimes some people need stronger deoderants. My doctor prescribed Drysol for me. There is also a deoderant called Certain-Dri that you can buy at the drugstore or Walmart. It is stronger than normal deoderants (like Teen Spirit or Secret) but not as strong as Drysol.
I think, though, that I agree that you might want to go to the doctor. Sometimes a strong body odor is your body's way of telling you that something else is going on. It's probably nothing, but your doctor can tell you for sure. Don't be embarrassed to ask the doctor about it. Your doctor has seen many, many people with this problem; it's not uncommon at all.
Good luck. I hope you can find something that works for you!
P.S. You said you've been depressed and embarrassed. Everyone has times when they're down and blue. If you've been depressed for a long time, though, you should mentioned it to the doctor when you ask about your body odor. The doctor can help you decide whether you're just going through some sad times or whether you might need to talk to someone. You shouldn't be embarrassed about this, either. Lots of people get down and have trouble getting over their depression. Your doctor has talked to many, many people about being depressed and can help you figure out what, if anything, you need to do about your blue mood.
[This message has been edited by Anonymity (edited 12-11-2002).]
sorry to hear that you are being teased at school. Sounds like you are doing everything right.
Instead of showers you might want to soak in very warm bath every night. Make sure you use some sort of scented bubble bath and take some sort of scrubby and wash all over and very thorough. Make sure your deodarant is also an anti-perspirent that will help keep you from sweating. Wash your hair on a daily basis and make sure your underarms are shaved. Hair in these places can causes body odor as well.
You also might want to buy some scented body lotions. After your bath be sure you apply lotion everywhere. Find a scent that smells nice and go from there.
Also, I would suggest making sure that you only wear your clothes once and then wash them. If you have an odor problem and you wear your clothes more than once before washing, then the smell still won't completely come out of the clothes.
You should try using Bath & Body Works shower gels and body lotions. They all smell wonderful. Also if you sweat alot try Certain Dri. It worked well for my sweating problem.
[This message has been edited by ilovesunshine (edited 12-14-2002).]
Has any of this helped you, kaitiekat?? These are all great suggestions! Are you doing better?? Let us know if we can help with anything else!! Good luck!
My sister says to thank yous.I will have a nice chrismas this year and she will buy me somepretty lotons and bath saop.I works at the kroger on the weeknds and we do not have the ideas yous said.My sister will look and get them for me.THank You!!!
All of these suggestions involve covering up the odor however, not addressing the cause.
It can be hormonal, without a doubt. And definitely if she's nervous and sweating, washing clothes after EVERY wearing is helpful because sometimes odor can hide in clothing fiber and reactivate when you re-sweat in them.
Very often it's diet related, as well. Spicey foods, ethnic cuisine, garlic, onions, certain vegetables, - all can enhance body odor.
They make capsules you swallow that contain parsley oil and a few other ingredients that help to "deodorize" from the inside out.
Even if her sister's teasing sounds cruel, it also can be a helpful support because there's someone familiar who she can trust to be honest with her. Make her your friend and ally to help you when you're successful.
I'd still recommend that trip to the doctor. Like I said, only your doctor can tell you for sure that your body odor is a normal result of getting hot and sweaty, etc. If there's a problem, the doctor can help you.
Please don't hesitate to go, kaitiekat! We've all been in situations where we'd rather no go to the doctor, but we still go because it's the only way to be sure that nothing is wrong. Maybe your sister could even help you get the appointment or go with you. Good luck!!
P.S. Enjoy those bath soaps and lotions- I'm envious! Seems like I have to twist arms to get bath lotions and stuff for presents! Lucky you!
[This message has been edited by Anonymity (edited 12-19-2002).]
